From Cusco to Lake Titicaca (3 days)

This short trip takes you to the Lake Titicaca, South America’s largest lake and the highest navigable lake in the world. On the way from Cusco to Puno you will visit different impressive sights such as Andahuaylillas, Raqchi and Pucará and enjoy spectacular views from La Raya Pass. On a 2 days-trip on the Lake Titicaca you will visit islands made entirely of reeds inhabited by the Urus – a community living in harmony with nature, and spend the night at the home of a local family on the Island Amantani.

Day 1: Cusco - Puno / Lake Titicaca (L)

We pick you up in the morning and take you to the bus station where you start your bus ride to the Lake Titicaca. It will be a beautiful journey with some special stops and amazing views along the way. We will visit the Church of Andahuaylillas, known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas” and explore the archaeological complex of Raqchi. Surrounded by pretty hills we enjoy a nice buffet lunch in Sicuani before we continue our journey to Puno. You will get to enjoy a spectacular view and see llamas and alpacas grazing from La Raya pass at 4310 m/14172 ft above sea level. Finally we will visit Pucará, a colonial city famous for its pottery. In the afternoon we arrive in the city of Puno at 3.800 m/13.000 ft where you will spend the night in a hotel. |

Day 2: Titicaca Floating Islands: Uros & Amanti (B, L, D)

We pick you up in the morning and take you the port of Puno where you board our boat for a 20 minutes ride on the Titicaca Lake to the floating islands of the Uros, made entirely of reeds. The community of the Uros has endured for hundreds of years, thanks to their continual renovation of the island floor with Totora reeds and their harmonious relationship with nature. After exploring the Uros Islands we get back on our boat for a 3 hours ride to the remote island Amantani. At Amantani we meet some the local families and enjoy a nice lunch with them. In the afternoon you will explore the island, visit the pre-Inca temple Pachatata and learn about the daily life and traditions of the Amantani community. You will spend the night at the home of one of the families. |

Day 3: Titicaca: Amanti & Taquile – Puno (B, L)

After having breakfast with your family we walk back to the port and board our boat. On the way back to Puno we stop at the island Taquile. We walk up to the village of the local community where you can have a look around, examine the beautiful arts and crafts and take photos of the beautiful landscape. We will enjoy a last traditional lunch at a local house and then return to Puno by boat. End of our services. |
