Paucartambo celebrations: 15th of July (2 days)

We departure at 2:00pm to go to Paucartambo. The bus ride will last approximately 4 hours, and show you the beautiful landscape around Cusco. When we arrive in the afternoon you will enjoy the typical celebrations, considered as a World Heritage by UNESCO. This is one of the most typical events of the region, in honor of the Virgen Del Carmen. The Statue of the virgin is carried through the streets and young men dressed in devils costumes are climbing on the roofs, trying to seduce her. Around midnight, we will go to “Tres Cruces”. Here you will, if you’re lucky enough, see the sunrise which is really amazing and unique in this part of the world.

We will come back from “Tres Cruces” in the morning, and you can have a nice breakfast in the city. You will have the morning to yourself to enjoy the celebrations. At 12:00am approximately, we will join the festival to attend a typical mass which is an emotional and unforgettable experience. Then you will take part in the procession of the patron of Paucartambo “La Mamacha Del Carmen”, at the same time, we will enjoy the different colorful dances such as Qhapac´Negro, Qhapac Q´olla, Aucca Chileno and Saqra. At 3:00pm, our bus takes us back to Cuzco. End of our services.
